This could mark the change from 'conversational' to 'monetisable'. - Optimizing a Screen for Mobile Use (Jakob Nielsen's Alertbox) – Lovely example of ruthless simplification and device-specific polishing. I love the phrase "killing time is a killer app for mobile".
