InternetRetailing appoints award-winning Editor

[Announcement] InternetRetailing appoints award-winning Editor

Really pleased to announce that we have a new, full time, excellent Editor for IR, meaning that my “Launch Editor” role can be retired in favour of ‘Editor in Chief’ (or non-exec). The best suggestion so far has been “UnEditor”. Nice.

We had a gratifyingly strong field of applicants and expect to work with many of the shortlist as contributors in the future. However Emma’s experience in retail, launch experience and writing credentials really got us excited and I can’t wait to see the results of her work in the November edition of the magazine.

Press release after the jump.

IR article said:

The dancing gerbils were deployed in the foyer of IR Towers this morning to welcome aboard Emma Herrod as the new Editor for Internet Retailing Magazine and also this portal. Yip yip.
We’re very pleased to announce the appointment of Emma Herrod as Editor of Internet Retailing.

Emma, a recent BT Technology Journalist of the Year, has experience of technology, retail and e-government journalism in her 20 year career. Importantly, however, Emma has also got direct e-commerce retail experience, having headed up the content team at Screwfix Direct, one of the UK’s leading catalogue and online retailers.

Emma joins IR with immediate effect, working on the inaugural magazine, scheduled to land early November.

Emma will also be at the Internet Retailer conference on 26 September and we’re currently arranging ‘meet the editor’ sessions. Do email us if you’d like to introduce yourself, your products, company or wonderful initiative to the IR team.

Internet Retailing magazine appoints award-winning editor
September 18 — InternetRetailing.net has appointed Emma Herrod, a former BT Technology Journalist of the Year, as editor of its internet portal and soon to be launched magazine Internet Retailing.

Emma is a seasoned journalist and analyst who has covered retail and banking technology, security and e-government during her 20-year career. Emma has also worked in internet retailing, heading the catalogue content team at Screwfix Direct, one of the UK’s leading multichannel retailers.

InternetRetailing.net and Internet Retailing magazine provide insight into the internet retail market through analysis of the news and events in the sector. The web portal and the magazine are complementary products intended to fill a very real information gap and will also provide background information and market intelligence including profiles of key companies, initiatives, suppliers, people and trends.

Internet Retailing magazine, which launches in November 2006, will be the first magazine dedicated to tracking developments in the e-retail sector. “The magazine will map developments in the main streams of internet retail and be the nexus where the many professions in a modern business can meet to develop internet retailing,” said Ian Jindal, editor-in-chief.

The magazine and InternetRetailing.net are supplemented by Internet Retailer, the annual conference and exhibition which takes place on 26 September 2006 at the Novotel in Hammersmith, London.
